In all, seven of the team's 11 starters are underclassmen.
SCHEDULE TOUGH AS NAILS The 49ers provided themselves with a tough non-conference schedule, that helped them move towards the top of the Big West standings. So far this season, non-conference opponents have a combined 100-68-19 (.595) record. Pepperdine (No. 8) and Purdue (No. 13) are both ranked in the top-15, and are two of four opponents (Navy and San Diego State are the others) with 10 wins or more. Inall, nine of the 11 opponents have winning records.
WEEK'S TOP HONOR Junior Abie Curry was named BWC Player of the Week on October 21, after her play led to victories over CSF and UCR, teams who had entered the week undefeated and 1-2 in the BWC standings. First, Curry tapped in Shanna Wender's (Fresno) pass with 22 seconds left against then-No. 25-ranked CS Fullerton. Two days later, Curry was knocked down in front of the net in the 82nd minute against UC Riverside. The ensuing penalty kick, by Diana Sanguinetti, proved to be the game-winner. The win over the Titans was believed to be the 49ers first-ever win over a ranked foe in the program's five year history.
LET'S PLAY 110 MINUTES The 49ers have played in five overtime matches this season, one away from the school-record set last year. The Beach have also finished a match tied, four times this season, a school-record, breaking the 2000 team which finished in a tie three times.
