No.1 Nebraska, No. 3 Penn State, No. 10 Stanford

LONG BEACH, CA -- Long Beach State volleyball was ranked No. 8 in
the pre-season Coaches poll, following a No. 3 ranking by Volleyball
Magazine last week. The 49ers, who return five starters, host six
of the top 13, including No. 1 Nebraska (September 1), No. 3 Penn
State (September 15) and No. 10 Stanford (September 25).

The 49ers finished 2000 at the NCAA Regionals with a 24-8 mark. The Beach feature five potential all-Americans and six all-conference performers.
The team is currently on a 12-day trip to Europe, which will feature nine matches starting on August 15.
As part of one of the toughest schedules in the country, the home
docke will also include ranked opponents such as: No. 11 Brigham
Young (November 24), No. 12 Pacific (September 28), No. 13 UC Santa
Barbara (September 21). Other opponents receiving votes are: No.
33 Utah State, No. 36 San Diego and No. 46 Cal Poly.
In September alone the last four National Champions (Long Beach
State, Nebraska, Stanford, Penn State) will be playing at the Pyramid.
