No.1 Nebraska, No. 2 Stanford Both Headed to Pyramid
This Season
LONG BEACH, CA -- It was learned today that Long Beach State women's volleyball is rated No. 3 in Volleyball Magazine's pre-season poll. The poll, which will be released in its entirety in the August 20 preview issue, ranks defending National Champion Nebraska No. 1 and Stanford No. 2. The issue will also include a feature on 49er all-American Cheryl Weaver (Washington D.C.).

The 49ers return five starters to a team that finished the season
at the NCAA Regionals with a 24-8 mark. The Beach feature five potential
all-Americans and six all-conference performers. As part of one
of the toughest schedules in the country, both teams ahead of the
49ers in the polls will be making their way to the Pyramid.
The Cornhuskers head West on September 1, while the Cardinal come
to town on September 25. Seven of the top 10 teams in the nation
(including Long Beach State) will be playing at the Pyramid this
season, including the last four National Champions (Long Beach State,
Nebraska, Stanford, Penn State).
