Dr. Uli Piña is a native of Long Beach and received his Ph.D. in History from the University of California, San Diego. At LBSU, he is an associate professor of history, and his teaching and research interests include Mexican and Modern Latin American history, revolutions, social movements, democracy studies, political culture, and social activism. He is the author of Rebellious Citizens: Social Upheaval and Democracy in Revolutionary Mexico.
Before deciding to become a professor, he was a student-athlete at the University of California, Riverside in Cross Country and Track & Field, where he also received his B.A. in History and Spanish, and M.A. in History. He is a proud and long-time supporter of the Los Angeles Galaxy.
