Sinjin Smith enters his fifth season with Long Beach State, and was promoted to the lead assistant for the program in August 2025.
In his four seasons with the Beach, Long Beach State has secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament each year and produced multiple All-American selections while also winning two Big West titles.
Smith has had a decorated history in volleyball before landing at LBSU. Smith completed his undergraduate degree at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo while playing on men’s indoor and beach volleyball club teams. At Cal Poly, he served as a student assistant to the Beach Volleyball team, on staff for three straight Big West Championships for the Mustangs (2019-22). He also coaches at Balboa Bay Volleyball Club in Orange County. He is responsible for creating the Loyola High School Beach Volleyball team. Sinjin Smith is the son of Beach Volleyball legend Christopher “Sinjin” St. John Smith.
