A member of the Long Beach State Athletics Department since 2024, Gladie Jaffe serves as the Deputy Athletics Director for Operations and Strategy.

In her role, Jaffe provides oversight for the management of multiple areas including external relations, operations, and student-athlete experience. She is directly responsible for managing department operations within a strategic framework, focusing on increased departmental efficiency and competitiveness, resource and risk management, external engagement and partnership opportunities, sport oversight, and NIL initiatives. In addition, Jaffe serves as the Sport Supervisor for Men’s Basketball.

Previously, Jaffe held the position of Senior Associate Athletics Director for Special Projects and Strategic Initiatives for Long Beach State Athletics, providing department leadership and key counsel to the Executive Director of Athletics and Senior Leadership Team. She led several short-term initiatives to improve engagement with supporters and the campus community, in addition to the development of a comprehensive administrative strategy aimed at long-term, sustainable success.

Prior to her arrival at The Beach, Jaffe held the position of Chief of Staff for San Diego State Athletics. As a member of the executive leadership team, Jaffe provided strategic counsel to the Director of Athletics, supporting operations and management of budget, personnel policy development, external partnerships, and strategic initiatives. She managed a variety of special projects including but not limited to executive-level hiring, leadership development and staff engagement initiatives, conference realignment, and a major organizational structure redesign. Jaffe also had heavy involvement in both the opening of the Aztecs' new 35,000 seat multipurpose venue, Snapdragon Stadium, and engagement logistics for SDSU’s run to the NCAA Final Four in 2023. Prior to the Chief of Staff role, Jaffe worked in various other administrative and instructional capacities at San Diego State University.

A San Diego, CA., native, Jaffe earned a bachelor’s degree in geography from San Diego State University. Jaffe has a great passion for service to her community. She was proud to serve on the Board of Directors both at Congregation Beth Israel San Diego and Scripps Ranch Pop Warner and was honored with the San Diego Pride Volunteer of the Year award in 2015. Jaffe is married to Todd Hughes. Her sons are Joel (24) and Cooper (22).
