Lexi Petersen joined the Long Beach State women's basketball staff as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in summer 2026, bringing Division I coaching experience, professional playing experience and a standout collegiate résumé to the Beach.
Petersen came to Long Beach State after three seasons on the Saint Mary's coaching staff. Prior to her time with the Gaels, she spent four seasons at Seattle U, serving one year as director of basketball operations before being promoted to assistant coach. While with the Redhawks, Petersen worked closely with the shooting guards, coordinated player development and prepared player personnel reports as part of the program's scouting efforts.
Before entering the coaching profession, Petersen enjoyed an outstanding playing career at the University of Oregon from 2012-16. A four-year contributor, she appeared in a school-record 126 career games and finished with 1,226 career points. Following a season-ending knee injury in 2012-13, Petersen returned to average 9.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game during her redshirt sophomore campaign before averaging 12.0 points per game over her final two seasons. As a senior, she averaged more than 13 points per contest while shooting 45 percent from the field, helping lead the Ducks to 24 wins and a semifinal appearance in the 2016 WNIT.
Following her collegiate career, Petersen played professionally in Greece and Iceland for three seasons. During her time overseas, she also worked as a youth basketball coach in Iceland and helped launch the "Women Ball Too" summer program in 2019 before returning to the United States to begin her collegiate coaching career.
A native of Tukwila, Washington, Petersen brings a strong background in player development, recruiting and guard instruction to the Long Beach State women's basketball program.
