Laura Dinkins is in her sixth season as an assistant coach at Long Beach State after being hired in 2017.

In five years at the Beach, Dinkins has helped the team reach the Big West Tournament in each season. She has played a large role in working with the players both on and off the court helping Justina King take home Big West Conference Freshman of the Year honors as a rookie, before earning Big West All-Second Team and All-Defensive Team accolades on two occasions, as well as Big West All-First Team and All-Defensive Team accolades as a junior. Additionally, Maddi Utti was named Big West Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Big West First Team, Ma’Qhi Berry was named to the Big West All-Defensive Team, and Patricia Chung was selected to the All-Freshman Team in 2020-21. Prior to that, Naomi Hunt and Shanaijah Davison collected Big West All-Second Team and Honorable Mention accolades, respectively, in 2018-19.

Dinkins came to the Beach after spending three seasons at Fresno State. During her time at Fresno State, the Bulldogs reached the second round of the WNIT in each of her first two seasons, and fell just short of the NCAA Tournament in 2016-17 after reaching the Mountain West Tournament Championship Game.

Prior to her time at Fresno State, Dinkins worked at Idaho State where she coached four players that earned All-Big Sky honors and 11 student-athletes that were named to the Big-Sky All-Academic team.

Dinkins also served as an assistant coach at Northern Arizona, her alma mater.

While a student-athlete at Northern Arizona, Dinkins was named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year and ranks second in Lumberjack history with 714 rebounds in her career, and fell just 30 points shy of 1,000 career points. She also played a program record 1,144 minutes during the 2007-08 season and was a member of the 2005-06 team that won Northern Arizona’s first Big Sky Championship, earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Following her graduation from Northern Arizona with a Bachelor’s Degree in health sciences in 2008, Dinkins went on to play two seasons of professional basketball in Europe. She played in Germany for the Chem Cats and helped the team earn a Division II Championship. She also played a season in The Netherlands for the Perik Jumpers.
