BeAChampion Header

The BeAChampion Program is designed as a four-year comprehensive development program centered around ensuring that student-athletes are supported holistically during their time at Long Beach State. Built over the last three years with the full slate being offered in 2025-26, student-athletes will engage with curriculum specifically tailored to meeting the specific needs of their current year in school. 

In the Fall of 2024, First Year Foundation set the stage for first-year student-athletes' growth and transition, while Senior Sendoff equipped graduating student-athletes with career readiness and resources for life after sports.

    • Provided seniors with key resources, including job search tools, financial planning advice, and a final connection to the Long Beach State Athletics community
First Year Foundation

The goal of the First Year Foundation course is to support first-year student-athletes in their transition to college. Through this one-unit course, student-athletes will develop essential life skills, build a strong personal foundation, and learn strategies for academic, athletic and personal success. The course focuses on identity development, decision making and establishing a sense of community to help students navigate their first year with confidence.

Sophomore Success

The goal of the Sophomore Success course is to build on the foundation of the freshman experience. Through this one-unit mainly asynchronous course, student-athletes will strengthen their hard and soft skills, develop their personal brand, and learn more about conflict resolution and holistic development.
