Savannah Tucker led the team with 27 points, while Rachel Loobie added a double-double.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State held UC Santa Barbara Barbara scoreless for over the final seven minutes of the fourth quarter, but LBSU's rally fell short as the Gauchos defeated the Beach 77-68 Saturday afternoon at the Walter Pyramid.

In the first two minutes of the contest, UCSB only saw one point until the Beach went on a five-point run. With 5:59 left in the first period, Long Beach State led 9-3, but a Gauchos 7-0 spurt would return the lead to UC Santa Barbara. A Jada Crawshaw three-point play tied the game before UC Santa Barbara would have another 7-0 run that resulted in a 24-17 first-quarter advantage.

The Gauchos took their biggest lead of the game, 17 points, with 3:10 in the first half. Savannah Tucker's 10 points in the second kept Long Beach State in contention as LBSU trailed 46-33 at the break.

The Gauchos made 7-of-11 field goal attempts in the third period as UCSB led 65-49 after 30 minutes, with one layup coming at the buzzer as UCSB led 65-49 after 30 minutes.

Patricia Chung and Tucker led the Beach rally on the fourth, with Chung scoring six straight points to close the gap. With 2:53 left, Tucker stole the ball and completed a layup on a breakaway to cut the lead to 10. A Skylar Burke free throw with 56 seconds remaining stopped the drought at 68-59. Crawshaw was fouled 10 seconds later but missed both free throw attempts.

Long Beach State fouled Alyssa Marin, who connected on her free throws with 44 seconds to play. Trailing by 11, Tucker hit a three-pointer with 38 seconds left to record her seventh 20-point game of the season. UC Santa Barbara made 7-of-8 free throws in the final 35 seconds to secure the victory.

Tucker led the Beach with 27 points, shooting 50% from the field (9-18) and 44.4% from the three-point range (4-9). Rachel Loobie added a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing a season-high 14 rebounds. Patricia Chung added 12 points and a team-high six assists.

The Gauchos (12-9, 6-5 Big West) were led by Burke, who went 9-of-9 from the field as she charted a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Jessica Grant scored 13, while Zoe Borter and Olivia Bradley scored 10.

The Beach (11-9, 7-4 Big West) outscored the Gauchos in the paint, 36-32, and on fast breaks, 23-3. The Gauchos shot 43.1% (22-of-51) from the field and 77.8% from the line (28-of-36). The Beach shot 35.6% (26-73) from the field and 50% from the line (11-of-22).
