
Three Men’s Basketball Players Honored As All-Big West

Aboubacar Traore was named to the First Team as well as repeating as Best Hustle Player.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Junior Aboubacar Traore was named to the All-Big West First Team, leading a trio of selections as announced by the Big West conference office on Tuesday.
Aboubcar Traore has continued to develop his all-around game has become a nightly triple-double threat while also contributing heavily on the defensive end. Averaging a new high of 11.9 points per game, Traore also leads the Beach in assists, steals and blocks, one of just four players in the nation to lead their team in all three categories.
In Big West action, Traore ranks 2nd in rebounding behind teammate Lassina Traore, fourth in assists per game, fourth in blocked shots and eighth in steals per game, the only player in the Big West to rank in the Top 10 in all four categories. A two-time Honorable Mention selection, Aboubacar was named to the first team for the first time in his career, while repeating as the Best Hustle Player, a distinction he also won in 2022-23 as a sophomore.
Lassina Traore is again leading the Big West in both rebounding and double-doubles on the campaign, and was named to the All-Big West Second Team. One of just 17 players in the nation averaging a double-double, Traore is scoring 11.5 points per game while grabbing 10.4 boards per game. He enters the postseason with 14 double-doubles, including four in the last five games.
Long Beach State's leading scorer, Marcus Tsohonis is averaging 17.6 points per game and is second on the team behind Aboubacar Traore in assists, averaging just under four per game in league play in his senior season for Long Beach State. Tsohonis has scored in double-figures in 22 straight games, and has scored 20 points or more seven times entering the postseason. In two seasons at Long Beach State, Tsohonis has earned Honorable Mention in both seasons.
Long Beach State earned the fourth seed in the upcoming Big West Championship, and will face the winner of UC Riverside and CSU Bakersfield in the second round Thursday night on ESPN+.
