Two will join Long Beach State starting in 2025-26.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – In the first full recruiting window for new Long Beach State Men's Basketball coach Chris Acker and his staff, the Beach has signed three high-impact players ready to help lift LBSU hoops to new levels.
Dallas Washington | Wing | 6-8, 200 | Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.
An ESPN Top 100 recruit, Washington is one of the highest-profile additions out of high school to ever commit to Long Beach State. Rated as the No. 99 player in the country by ESPN, the four-star recruit has excelled at Santa Margarita Catholic High School as well as with the Arizona Unity in the Nike EYBL. Washington is rated by ESPN as the 20th best power forward and the 9th best player in California in the 2025 recruiting class.
Acker on Dallas Washington:
"I am very excited to have Dallas join our program next season. First of all, he comes from a great family and has the character to match that upbringing. Adding quality people to our program is always a major priority. On the court, his versatility, IQ, skill set and size make him a unique talent for our program. He is going to be a key factor in our future here at Long Beach State."
Gavin Sykes | Guard | 6-4, 190 | Modesto, Calif.
Gavin Sykes is another prospect who is highly regarded by ESPN, a three-star recruit and the 23rd rated player in the State of California. Leading Modesto Christian to a league championship as a junior, Sykes was also named the Co-MVP of the 2024 Elite 8 Fall preview, continuing to showcase his development.
Acker on Gavin Sykes:
"I can't wait to get Gavin acclimated into our program. He comes from a great family who has done a tremendous job of raising him. He's smart, tough and wants to be coached. He has really good size and plays the game in a hard-nosed, physical way. He's a hooper, a guy that loves to play and loves to compete."
Chance Dastrup | Guard | 5-11, 190 | Orem, Utah
Long Beach State's third commitment comes in a unique circumstance. Chance Dastrup has committed to joining Long Beach State, but will only join the team following the conclusion of his mission with the Church of Latter Day Saints. A guard that can impact a game in multiple ways, Dastrup averaged 9.2 points and 8.7 assists per game with Orem High School, setting season highs with 16 points and an astounding 17 assists in one game, and reaching double-digit assists in 10 games last season.
Acker on Chance Dastrup:
"Chance comes from a great family and has an awesome demeanor. He's a pure point guard who plays with no agenda and is as tough as they come. We fell in love with his game because he knows how to win. I can't wait for him to return from his mission so that we can get to work developing another impact guard in this program."
