Schwab Leads LBSU Women To Fourth; Beach Men Ninth At Bronco Invitational

Long Beach State completed the regular season Saturday in Sunnyvale
SUNNYVALE, Calif.—The Long Beach State men's and women's cross country teams concluded the regular season Saturday morning at Santa Clara's Bronco Invitational, which was conducted on the Baylands Park course.
WOMEN
Among 192 competitors, Marikay Schwab turned in the top Long Beach State performance on the 6k course. Schwab ran 20:50.7 to finish 10th.
Leia Jones placed 17th, going 20:57.7. Allie Scimia came in 38th, going 21:30.4. Mackenzie Hack posted a time of 21:54.1, which gave her 54th place.
Jadyn Palaschuk recorded a 22:06.0 performance to come in 72nd. Alyssa Tapanes (22:17.9) was 87th. Brooke Willoughby finished 111th (22:43.6). Natasha King placed 123rd (22:59.6). Elani Huntley (24:52.3, 171st) rounded out the Beach entries.
In the team competition, Long Beach State finished fourth (151). Cal Poly (45) was the team champion. Tatiana Cornejo of Cal Poly was the medalist, running 20:14.4.
MEN
Cameron Rhone was the top LBSU finisher. Rhone ran 24:38.3 on the 8k course to place 19th. Quinn Garity followed in 21st, running 24:43.0.
Cameron Gill posted a career-best 8k time of 25:14.7 to finish 42nd. Kyle Reden went 25:40.5 to finish 60th. Ethan Florez established an 8k best of 27:04.7 as he came in 120th. 144 racers were entered in the event.
Long Beach State finished ninth as a team (242). Muhammed Ahmed of UC Davis was the individual champion (23:47.8), and UC Davis (44) was the team champion.

Long Beach State enters the Big West Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2. UC Riverside hosts on their Ags/Ops Course. The men's race begins at 8:30 a.m. The women's competition gets underway at 9:15 a.m.
