
Long Beach State Men’s Golf Inks Alejandro de Castro Piera

de Castro Piera comes to the Beach as a sophomore after playing his rookie season at Anderson University
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Head Coach Rob Murray rounded out his signing class for the 2023-24 season with the addition of sophomore transfer Alejandro de Castro Piera.
"Alex had a successful freshman year at Anderson University on a team that was ranked No. 1 in the country for most of the year," said Murray. "Winning the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award is a big honor for Alex and only shows how much talent he has. For us to add a proven young talent like Alex is big for our program and I look forward to watching Alex continue to develop and thrive with us."
de Castro Piera comes to the Beach from Anderson University in South Carolina, where he was named Freshman SAC Player of the Year. He helped the team capture the 2023 SAC Championship. He earned the NCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman award and was named to the Division II PING All-Southeast Region Team.
In addition to gaining experience at the university level, de Castro Piera also played for the Catalonia Federation Team. Representing his home country of Spain, de Castro Piera collected five wins and 14 Top 10 finishes in 32 events.
