COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Haskins Foundation announced the First Spring Haskins Award presented by Stifel Watch List on Friday and Long Beach State's Ian Gilligan was on the list.

Gilligan, who is ranked No. 19 by GolfStat, was one of 15 NCAA Division I Men's Golfers named to the watch list. The sophomore from Reno, Nev., has been the Beach's top golfer this season. Gilligan breezed through the fall season winning the Nick Watney Invitational and The MacKenzie, before turning in a Top 15 performance at the Cal Poly Invitational, in which he was LBSU's leading scorer.

This spring, Gilligan has continued his tear posting a Top 3 finish at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. He followed that showing with a record-setting performance at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in which he set a new first round course record and first round personal best as he shot a 61 for 11-under par. He would go on to tie for third in the tournament with a 61-71-67 for 199 and 17-under par. In Gilligan's most recent outing, he posted a Top 15 showing at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate after shooting 2-under par.

The Fred Haskins Award is in its 53rd year and has been given to players who have captured 33 major championships and more than 400 professional tournaments around the world. Past recipients include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Ben Crenshaw, and Justin Thomas. Chris Gotterup of Oklahoma won the Haskins Award in 2022.

The Fred Haskins Award is the oldest individual college golf award and the only award to be voted on by players, coaches, golf SIDs, and select golf media. Golf Channel and Golfweek are media partners for the Fred Haskins Award.

Stifel, one of the nation's leading wealth management and investment banking firms, serves as the presenting sponsor of both the ANNIKA and Haskins Awards, recognizing annually the most outstanding NCAA Division I female and male college golfers. Stifel also serves as a presenting sponsor for the NCAA Division I Women's and Men's Golf Championships on GOLF Channel.
