Morgan brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Head Coach Tyler Hildebrand announced the hiring of Natalie Morgan as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Beach on Monday. Morgan brings several years of experience having coached at both the collegiate and high school levels.
"We are very excited to bring Natalie into our program," said Hildebrand, "Natalie brings a wealth of volleyball and coaching experience with her. She won a National Championship at Nebraska, was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for four years at LMU, and has been a head coach at Harvard Westlake. Her experiences and her incredibly high drive will make her a force for us in recruiting both here, locally in California, and across the country.
"Most importantly, our job is to provide great mentors and role models for the women that play for our program. Natalie will be a great teacher, mentor, friend to our players and will represent our university with great pride. I cannot wait to learn from Natalie and have our women learn from and grow with her. I know our team, our university, and our community will be fired up to see what Natalie produces here at Long Beach State."
Morgan comes to the Beach after most recently serving as the head coach at Harvard-Westlake. While coaching the Wolverines, she helped Harvard-Westlake win the Division I Southern Regional Championship, the highest division state championship of any sport at Harvard-Westlake. For her efforts, Morgan was named AVCA All-Region Coach of the Year, and was an AVCA Thirty Under 30 award winner.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the Long Beach State Volleyball Program," said Morgan. "I cannot wait to start establishing relationships with the team, recruits, and the Beach community. It is an honor and a privilege to work alongside Tyler and build upon the legacy of this historical program."
Prior to her time at Harvard-Westlake, Morgan worked at Loyola Marymount as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for four years. At LMU, Morgan helped the Lions win their first NCAA Tournament match since 2015. She also brought in back-to-back Top 30 recruiting classes. Additionally, she was responsible for scouting and analyzing opponents, while also training the Lions in defense and blocking.
Previously, Morgan worked at Nebraska as the team's technical coordinator. During her stint at Nebraska, she was part of three NCAA Tournament Teams and helped the Huskers capture the 2015 National Championship.
Morgan played collegiately at Oregon State before transitioning into a coaching role as the assistant director of volleyball operations. As director of operations, Morgan assisted with practice setup, ran Data Volley and statistical analysis.
Additionally, Morgan has also gained experience coaching with USA Volleyball as an assistant coach and technical coordinator. She worked with the 2016 USA National Team and Pan Am Cup Teams.
