Wilson has accepted the head coaching position for Men’s Golf at Colorado State.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Michael Wilson has accepted the vacant Men's Golf head coaching job at Colorado State and will depart his current position at Long Beach State following a five-year tenure at the Beach.
"All of us here at Long Beach State wish Michael the best as he takes the next step in his career," said Executive Director of Athletics Andy Fee. "He has been an excellent steward of the program over the last five years, and has helped to establish a culture which we feel will be lasting. I look forward to identifying the right person to continue to help build the program and lead us in a positive direction."
Wilson led Long Beach State to an NCAA Regional appearance in the 2021 season, and the 2022 team came up just short of a repeat appearance, finishing in second place overall in the Big West while senior Tyler Schafer was selected as an individual for the 2022 NCAA Stockton Regional.
Fee has announced that a national search will begin immediately.
Long Beach State Men's Golf has made nine separate NCAA Appearances in the program's history, and individual tournament champions for the Beach include prominent names in professional golf including Xander Schauffle, John Mallinger, Paul Goydos and former Masters Champion Mark O'Meara.
