Kvick is one of eight outstanding student-athletes across the Big West to be named a recipient of the annual award
IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West Conference announced eight recipients of the 2022 Big West annual Service and Leadership Award and Long Beach State Men's Golfer Bryce Kvick earned the honor for the first time in his collegiate career.
The Big West has celebrated student-athletes for the Service and Leadership Award annually since the 2017-18 academic year. The award winners are selected at the discretion of each member institution with criteria encompassing service, leadership, and academics.
Kvick earned the award after balancing an intense academic course load as a triple major and member of the Honors College, while competing on the course for the Beach in addition to amateur competition. Kvick is Long Beach State's representative on the Big West SAAC and has been an executive member of the Beach's SAAC for the last three years.
Through SAAC, Kvick has been involved in an array of service activities on campus. Prior to his time at LBSU, he helped create a charity golf tournament, the College Bound Classic, through the student-run profit Kids Helping Kids. The classic raises over $30,000 each year to give graduating students in foster care to get them prepared for their collegiate experience. Kvick went back to get involved in the tournament in 2019 and 2020.
Each member institution may submit one honoree per academic year who participates in a Big West sponsored sport and who engages consistently in service and leadership activities that impact the campus, community, or regional levels. The awardee makes the most of opportunities presented to them by taking on key roles and is innovative in seeking out meaningful service and leadership opportunities, while keeping their academic eligibility on their respective team.
The 2022 recipients represent eight sports and the class of eight is the largest in the award's five-year history.
