Long Beach State Earns No. 1 Overall Seed in NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship

The Beach will make its 12th overall appearance in the NCAA Championships and fifth Final Four showing in the last six seasons

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Men's Volleyball Committee announced the seven-team field for the 2022 National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship and Long Beach State has earned the No. 1 seed. The NCAA Tournament will be held at Pauley Pavilion May 1-7.
The Beach received one of two at-large bids after posting a 20-5 overall record and winning the Big West Regular Season Title. As the top seed, Long Beach State has earned a bye into the semifinals marking its 12th NCAA Tournament appearance, and fifth NCAA Final Four showing in six seasons.
Long Beach State will face the winner of the first round match, which features UCLA (21-4) and Pepperdine (19-9) of the MPSF, on Thursday, May 5 at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, Calif. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
Joining the Beach in the NCAA Tournament field are No. 2 seed Ball State (23-3) of the MIVA, as well as Hawaii (24-5), Princeton (15-12) of the EIVA, and North Greenville (20-5) of Conference Carolinas.
The Beach are looking to capture their third NCAA National Title in four seasons, and fourth NCAA Championship overall, having won in 1991, 2018, and 2019.
The NCAA Men's Collegiate National Championship match is set for Saturday, May 7 at 5 p.m., and will be televised on ESPN2.
