DAVIS, Calif. –
A strong fourth quarter was not enough for Long Beach State to overcome a 28-point deficit as the Beach dropped a 70-50 decision to UC Davis at the Pavilion on Thursday night.

Long Beach State (5-14, 2-4 Big West) fell behind early as UC Davis (14-6, 6-1 Big West) opened up the game on a 6-0 run and never looked back. The Aggies led the entire game as they shot 44.7-percent from the field and led by as many as 31 (48-17) en route to their fourth-straight win.

The Beach struggled offensively in the first three quarters as they were limited to single digits in each frame. Down 52-24 going into the final 10 minutes of action, Long Beach State's offense heated up as the Beach connected on 9-of-15 field goals to shoot 60-percent.

The fourth quarter saw the Beach outscore the Aggies 26-18, however, the damage had been done as UC Davis claimed a 20-point victory, handing LBSU its fourth-straight loss.

Sophomore Shanaijah Davison led the Beach with 16 points, while adding three assists, one rebound and one steal, while Cydnee Kinslow turned in a solid performance with nine rebounds, eight points, three assists, and two steals.

UC Davis had three scorers in double-figures led by Morgan Bertsch's 24-point effort. Joining Bertsch in double digits were Nina Bessolo (12 points) and Kourtney Eaton (11 points).

Long Beach State finished the game shooting 32.8 percent (19-for-58) from the field and 37.5 percent (6-for-16) from long distance. The Beach bench also outscored the Aggies' bench 34-18 thanks to the offensive efforts by Davison and Kinslow, as well as Sydney Bordonaro and Aaryon Green, who each tallied five points.

Lauren Green accounted for all of Long Beach State's blocks as she collected three in a stout defensive performance by the freshman. Additionally, she added four rebounds and two points.

Long Beach State will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 2 when the Beach travel to Cal State Fullerton to take on the Titans at 6 p.m. in Titan Gym.
