Beach Volleyball Remains Unbeaten In Irvine

Irvine, Calif. - No. 7 Long Beach State's depth showed its class on Tuesday, as flights three, four and five prevailed against No. 10 Arizona in a 3-2 win at Irvine Valley College.
Anete Brinke and Sasha Karelov were winners in the third flight, helping to spark a win for Long Beach State over Arizona. The duo won 21-8, 21-13 over Brooke Burling and Mia Mason. Zoi Konstantopoulou and Nicci Reinking claimed a 21-16, 21-17 win over Hailey Devlin/McKenna Martin, and a third win, Hannah Matt and Marisa Ramsey topping Jonny Baham and Stephany Purdue 21-17,21-12 sealed the win.
In the top flight, Natalie Anselmo and Olivia MacDonald defeated Nele Barber and Rachel Nieto 21-19, 21-16.
With the match decided, Kristyna Adamcikova and Hailey Harward went to a third set with Kacey Nady and Olivia Hallaran, but the Wildcats won 19-21, 21-16, 22-20.
Changing up the lineup for an exhibition against the host Lasers, Long Beach State won 5-0, taking all five matches in straight sets. Emma Kirst played with Karelov at No. 4, while Megan Kruidhof played with Harward at No. 2. Barber/Nieto and Matt/Ramsey held their spots in wins, while Konstantopoulou and Reinking moved up to No. 3 in a 21-11, 21-8 win.
Long Beach State hosts No. 1 Pepperdine Wednesday for the 49ers' home opener. The match will begin at 1 p.m. at the LBSU Sand Courts.
