TUCSON, Ariz. - A day after winning his second straight Big West Pitcher of the Year award, junior RHP Darren McCaughan was named a second team All-American by Collegiate Baseball. McCaughan received the same honor last season, making him Long Beach State's first two-time All-American since Cesar Ramos in 2004-05.

McCaughan is 8-2 this season with a 2.66 ERA in his 15 starts. He easily paced the Dirtbags with 108.1 innings pitched, recording 94 strikeouts against just 16 walks. Opposing batters hit just .193 off the righthander, a mark that comfortably led all other Big West pitchers. The junior from Downey also had four complete games and a pair of shutouts this season, leading Long Beach State to a Big West championship.

The Dirtbags are in action on Friday night at 8 p.m., hosting San Diego State in Game 2 of the Long Beach Regional at Blair Field.
