Long Beach, Calif. - Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitcher Jered Weaver threw the second no-hitter of the 2012 MLB season, allowing just two Minnesota Twins batters to reach base on Wednesday night with nine strikeouts.
The 2011 American League Cy Young Runner-Up, Weaver walked one and had another batter reach on a dropped third strike, the only base-runners in a game that never saw the no-hitter truly threatened.
Weaver, a two-time Big West Pitcher of the Year with Long Beach State, was the National Player of the Year following the 2004 season with the Dirtbags, leading Long Beach State to the Super Regionals with a 15-1 record and a 1.62 ERA with 213 strikeouts and just 21 walks.
Long Beach State will be honoring Jered Weaver with a bobblehead giveaway on Saturday, May 19 when the Dirtbags play Pacific at 5:30 p.m. in Blair Field.
