Long Beach, Calif. - Senior Tyresha Calhoun scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half, but the 49ers were unable to overcome a slow start in a 75-52 loss. Long Beach State held even with Nebraska in the second, scoring 36 points to the Huskers 37, and shot 48.5% in the latter period.

Nebraska was the team that came out hot however. Shooting 52.6 percent for the game, the Huskers opened with an 8-0 to start the contest before a Tyresha Calhoun basket, and opened up a 21-2 lead before the 49ers were able to get their second basket with 10:17 left to play in the opening half. The Huskers opened their lead to 29-6, but a 5-0 run sparked by Lauren Sims three helped the 49ers keep the lead from extending.

In the second, the 49ers were helped by Calhoun's 15 as well as 12 fast break points, including two full-court passes that were converted by Kaiti O'Brien to hold even with the Huskers, eventually cutting the lead to 13 at 45-32 over the first five minutes. Nebraska was able to hold strong, continuing their strong shooting and the 49ers were never able to seriously threaten the Huskers through the remainder of the game.

On the night, Brett Timmons led the 49ers with 10 rebounds, and Ally Wade and Barbee tied for the team lead with five assists apiece. The 49ers, who shot just 28% in the first half hit 16 of 33 in the second to improve their game shooting percentage to 39.7%.

Long Beach State continues their current seven-game homestand next Friday, when they host Washington State. Tipoff for that contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. on December 21.
