49ers Finish 12th At Pacific Coast Intercollegiate
Lederer And Drake Tie For 26th Place

SOLVANG, CA-- The Long Beach State men's golf team finished in 12th place at the OGIO Pacific Coast Intercollegiate being held at the Alisal River Course in Solvang. The 49ers shot a 287 in Tuesday's third and final round to finish with a three-round score of 859. Cal Poly won the team title with an 827 and the Univeresity of Denver came in second at 832.

Leading the way for the 49ers were senior Brett Lederer and freshman Michael Drake. Both shot a four-under 212 for the tournament, tying for 26th place. Lederer shot a four-under 68 on Tuesday after shooting a three-under 69 in Monday's second round (75-69-68). Drake shot a three-under 69 on Tuesday to finish with his score of 212 (72-71-69). Freshman Karl Katnik tied for 53rd place with a 218 (73-72-73). The overall individual winner was Cal Poly's Chris Kirk who shot an impressive 17-under 199 (64-67-68).

"We finished on a positive note," said 49er Head Coach Bob Livingstone. "Even though a couple of guys struggled, we still shot under par and passed a couple of teams. We now have a couple of weeks to get ready for the Big West Championships at the end of the month."

The Big West Championships will be held April 23-24 at the Tijeras Creek Golf Course in Santa Margarita, CA.
