TUCSON, AZ-- The Long Beach State men's golf team is in 16th place after two rounds of the Ping Arizona Intercollegiate at the Arizona National Golf Course in Tucson, AZ. Long Beach shot a 306 in Monday's opening round, 22-over-par, and followed that up with a 295 in the second round. UNLV is in first place with a 550 and Arizona stands in second with at 554. The second round was not completed on Monday due to darkness and was finished on Tuesday morning. The third and final round will be played after the conclusion of the second round on Tuesday.

Individually, senior Nick Badel is now tied for 48th place with a four-over 146 (76-70). Michael Drake is tied for 56th at 148 (73-75) and Brett Lederer is tied for 65th with a 150 (74-76).

"The first round was disappointing," said Head Coach Bob Livingstone. "We simply made too many mistakes, and when you do that at this course, the result is double and triple bogeys, and we had about 10 of those today. The good news is when we finish the second round tomorrow it will be about 10 shots better than the first round, so we did improve some. Hopefully we will be able to catch a team or two, as with this strong a field, any win will help our ranking."
