49ers Fall To 10th Place After Round Two Lederer Tied For 16th Place At 137 February 23, 2006 WAIHIAWA, HI-- The 49ers men's golf team is in tenth place after two rounds of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate at the Leilehua Golf Course in Hawaii. The 49ers, who shot a 277 in the opening round Wednesday, followed that up with a 282 on Thursday and currently stand at 559, 17-under par. Long Beach trails first place BYU and Auburn by 12 shots. BYU shot a blistering 269 in Thursday's second round to jump from fifth place to a first place tie. SMU shot a 271 today, jumping from sixth to third.
Junior Brett Lederer (Lakewood) shot an even par 72 and is tied for 16th place overall with a 137. Ryan Panichpakdee shot a 71 today and stands tied for 26th place with a five-under-par 139. The best round of the day for the 49ers came from Ryan Wood who shot a three-under 69 to move him up into a tie for 58th place with a 143.
Overall, Jay Moseley of Auburn is the overall individual leader after shooting a 66 for the second straight day. Moseley has a two-round score of 132. Glenn Northcut of Auburn and Zen Brown of Colorado State are tied for second at 134.
"We played pretty well today, the putts just didn't fall like they did yesterday," said Head Coach Bob Livingstone. "The good news is we're still in good shape. We are still beating a lot of teams from our region and the guys are pretty optimistic."
