Mallinger Finishes 42nd at PGA Tour Event

Mallinger Shines at Torrey Pines LA JOLLA, CA-- Former 49er men's golfer John Mallinger finished tied for 42nd at the PGA Tour's Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course this past weekend. Mallinger, a 2001 49er graduate and two-time first team All Big West selection, scored even par for the 72 holes with rounds of 72-71-71-74, and pocketed $16,354 for the week. Mallinger was one of two former 49ers in the event, joining 1995 graduate Fred Sutton to tee it up in the $5.1 million event. Mallinger shot an 8-Under par 64 at El Camino Country Club in San Diegoon January 23 to qualify for his second PGA Tour event. Last year, Mallinger qualified for the U.S. Open. |
