Beach Shoots A 299 In First Round
Jeremy Keller Shoots A One-Over-Par 73

SUNRIVER, OR--The Long Beach State men's golf team shot an 11-over-par 299 in the first round of the 2004 NCAA West Regionals at Sunriver Resort-Crosswater Club in Bend, OR on Thursday. The 49ers are tied for 17th place overall. UCLA leads the team title after shooting a 293 after one round. The Big West Conference champion 49ers will continue play with 18 more holes on Friday. The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Saturday.
Jeremy Keller shot a one-over-par 73 in the opening round, and is tied for 40th place, while Brett Lederer is right behind him with a two-over-par 74 and is tied for 50th. Todd Saukkola, the Big West Champion, shot a 75, Torey Edwards a 77 and Ryan Ritter an 81.
"We're in pretty good shape considering we had a couple of tough holes in the middle of the course," said 49er Head Coach Bob Livingstone. "But, we were able to hold it together and we finished pretty well. We'll regroup and get ready for tomorrow."
