SIX 49ER GOLFERS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE ACCOLADES

IRVINE, CA-- Six Long Beach State golfers earned All-Big West Conference honors as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
On the women's side, freshman Hayley Wilkinson (Queensland, Australia) was selected first team All-Big West, while senior Teal Thron (Palm Springs, CA) and junior Marie Louise Juul (Esbjerg, Denmark) both were second team selections.
Wilkinson was the 49ers top golfer in five of the eight tournament this season and recently tied for 13th at the Big West Championships. Thron was the 49ers top golfer at the conference meet, shooting a 162 to finish in 11th place. Juul is a two-time first team All-Big West selection and tied for 18th at the conference championships this week.
For the men, junior Torey Edwards (Long Beach, CA) was selected second team all-league, while junior Chris Gilley (La Habra, CA) and senior Tyler Mays (Las Vegas, NV) both earned Honorable Mention accolades.
Edwards had an exceptional spring season as he was the 49ers top golfer in three of the five tournaments. He tied for eighth at the Western Intercollegiate (213) and finished tied for 13th at the Big West Championships. Gilley was the 49ers top golfer at the league meet, finishing in fourth place with a 145 (73-72). Mays bounced back from a severe hand injury in the fall to post a strong spring campaign. He finished tied for fifth at the recent Big West Championships with a 146 (75-71).
