Yoichi took LBSU gymnastics by storm capturing four conference and four NCAA Western Regional all-around titles during his career. As a freshman at LBSU, Tomita captured the NCAA parallel bars title. As a senior, he was second in the NCAA all-around competition. Married to a Long Beach State graduate, Setsuko, Yoichi set up a gymnastics academy in Tucson.
