Steve Trachsel
  • Induction:
    2000
Trachsel played for just one year (1991) at Long Beach State, but made quite an impact. A second team All-America selection by Baseball America and second team All-Big West pick, Trachsel keyed the 49er pitching staff in 1991 and led The Beach to the College World Series. Trachsel was 11-6 with a 2.78 ERA in 148.2 innings of work. He recorded 139 strikeouts on the campaign and had nine complete games in 18 starts. The 148.2 innings pitched is a 49er single season record and his 139 strikeouts is third-best in 49er history. Trachsel also is tied for the school record for strikeouts in a single game as he recorded 16 on March 23, 1991 vs. Hartford. Trachsel was originally drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 8th Round of the 1991 draft. He was traded to Tampa Bay in 1999 and on July 31, 2000 he was traded to Toronto. He currently pitches for the Mets.
