Rob Townley

Townley, a center fielder, had a dream season for the 49ers in 1979, winning the Southern California Baseball Association batting championship with a .436 average while setting Long Beach State records for home runs (14), runs batted in (70), longest hitting streak (28 games), stolen bases (40) and home runs in a game (three). Behind Townley, the 49ers won 40 games for the first time and finished second in league. He was the 49ers' first All-American.
