Fellow Hall of Famer Lynn Hoeym's best friend from high school, Keelor carved a niche at LBSU as a wrestler and football lineman. Twice captain of the football team, Keelor was the university's Athlete of the Year in 1959. In 1960, Keelor was the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Wrestling champion in his weight class. Keelor was elected to the 49er Football Hall of Fame in 1975. After a successful career as a high school football coach and athletic director, Keelor started his own company, Health Designs International, which was located in Raleigh, N.C. Keelor became an expert on physical fitness and was a keynote speaker at the White House on sports medicine. He served as the Director of Program Development for the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports in Washington, D.C. from 1972-82, serving under four different Presidents. He was also inducted as the Long Beach State Alumnus of the Year at a formal ceremony held on campus in 1978.
