Monica Havelka
- Induction:
- 1987
Havelka is one of the cornerstones of the women's basketball program at the university. In four seasons with the 49ers, Havelka scored 1,222 points and collected 1086 rebounds, a school-record until Cindy Brown broke the mark in 1986. Havelka, who played from 1974 through 1978, was the first of three players in program history to score 1000 points and grab 1000 rebounds in a career. Havelka's efforts earned her an assortment of All-America and regional honors. She played on four national championship AAU teams and was a member of the 1977 USA team which won a silver medal in the University Games. After basketball, Havelka turned her skills to rowing, where she won a gold medal in the 1983 Pan American Games (double skulls). She was on the 1987 USA quadruple skills team as well and served as a teacher at Hamilton Junior High.
