Played on the 1966 and 1968 men’s basketball teams at Long Beach State as a reserve guard...spent nearly two decades as the coach of Stanford, before coaching the Golden State Warriors starting in 2005...upon his induction, had a 339-156 (.685) record at Stanford with 10 trips to the NCAA Tournament and 4 NIT bids... in 1998 the Cardinal reached the Final Four and finished the season at 30-5...he has led Stanford to eight straight NCAA Tournament appearances...in 1991 Stanford wonthe NIT Championship...was the head coach at Montana from 1978-1986 (8 years) and compiled a 154-77 (.667) mark with two NIT bids...overall, in 24 years as a collegiate head coach, Montgomery is 493-232 (.680) with 16 post-season appearances...graduated from Millikan High School and earned his BA degree in physical education from Long Beach State in 1968.
