Michael Wiley
- Induction:
- 1993
Wiley was one of the 49ers' biggest 'name' recruits of his era. A CIF co-player of the year at Poly High, Wiley signed with Long Beach and made an immediate impact on the basketball program. As a part-time starter as a freshman, Wiley was instrumental in leading the team to a 21-8 record, the PCAA Tournament championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Wiley went on to become the school's all-time leading scorer (1,962 points, broken last season by Lucious Harris). He also collected 788 rebounds and shot .570 from the field. Wiley was the 39th player chosen in the 1981 NBA draft and played parts of two seasons for the San Antonio Spurs and San Diego Clippers before heading to Europe, where he played in Italy, Holland and Switzerland.
