Ken Bartlett

An NCAA champion as an athlete at the University of Minnesota, Barlett took over a two-year old program in 1959-60 at Long Beach State and over the next 13 years made the 49ers one of the most formidable gymnastics squads in the state. His first three Long Beach State teams won California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships and his 1964-65 team was California State Champion. Bartlett's 1972-73 team won the Division I Pacific Coast Athletic Association title. During his tenure as coach, Bartlett produced 30 conference, 18 state and three NCAA regional individual champions. Two of his athletes, Fred Sieburm and Don Jennings, were NCAA All-Americans. After leaving coaching, Barlett continued to teach in the physical education department at Long Beach State before retiring in 1997.
