John Gonsalves

Gonsalves led the 49er baseball program for 19 years and is the winningest baseball coach in 49er history. He compiled an overall mark of 462-634-16 and led the 49ers to the 1970 Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA) championship. That team was 29-23 overall and 11-4 in league action. In 1979 he led the 49ers to a 40-22-3 record, his most wins in a single season. The 49ers finished second in the SCBA that year. That 1979 team featured outfielder Rob Townley who was a first team ABCA/Converse All-American.
