Jim Stangeland
- Induction:
- 1988
Jim Stangeland's impact on Long Beach State football was tremendous. Athletes he recruited during his five-year tenure as 49er coach set collegiate records that may never be broken. In his five years at LBSU, Stangeland coached the 49ers to two conference championships and the only bowl game in the school's history. It was a Stangeland-coached team that drew the biggest home crowd in the school's history. A crowd of 39,005 was on hand to see the 49ers snap San Diego State's 39-game unbeaten streak at Anaheim Stadium.
