The first of the 49ers' dynamic sprinters, Richardson, at one time, held school records in the 100, 200, 400 and long jump and was a member of record-setting relay teams in the 400, 800, 1600 meters as well as the sprint and distance medleys. As a track coach at Poly High, he produced 12 All-Americans in 10 seasons. Richardson went on to be an assistant coach at Long Beach City College.
