Jerry Tarkanian

Tarkanian still considers Long Beach home, and well he should... in five years as 49er basketball coach, he never lsot a home game while compiling a 121-20 mark. During that dynasty, LBSU captured one California Collegiate and four Pacific Coach Athletic Association championships. Tarkanian's last four 49er teams qualified for the NCAA Tournament and his 1971 team came within three points of the Final Four, losing to UCLA, 57-55, in the finals of the Western Regional in Salt Lake City. Tarkanian coached at Big West rival, UNLV, and then moved on to coach Fresno State before retiring.
