Faye Paige

A standout performer in two sports, Paige is best known at Long Beach for her 21-month comeback from a devastating knee injury. Paige was on crutches for nine months after surgery to repair the injury, but eventually returned to the 49ers' women's basketball team for the 1985-86 season. Paige, a senior, was a starter on a squad that went 29-5 and reached the NCAA West Regional final. In track, she finished third in the NCAA 400-meter hurdles as a freshman and, for a time, held school records in that event and at 400 meters.
