Dwight Stones
- Induction:
- 1987
Few athletes have dominated a sport or event the way Dwight Stones has dominated the high jump... countless national records, three world records and even the cover of Sports Illustrated. One of those world records came on June 5, 1976 when Stones, representing LBSU, leaped 7-feet 7 inches to win the NCAA Championship. One of only two athletes in history to win two Olympic medals in the event, Stones was a member of three U.S. Olympic teams. Stones has also been a commentator for NBC Sports. A part of the CENTURY CLUB'S best moments in the City of Long Beach in February, 2006.
