Dr. Dorothy Deatherage

Deatherage's resume is nine pages long, most of it detailing academic pursuits. She was an instructor at Long Beach State for over three decades beginning in 1955 and a professor in the physcial education department starting in 1965. Her contribution athletically is significant too. In 1964 she became the school's first director of women's and coed sports. It was Deatherage who established the foundation for the women's athletic program that would grew into one of the best in the nation.
