Icons in the golf community in Long Beach, both Del and Marty Walker coached golf at Long Beach State. Del coached the 49er men for 13 years (1982-94) while Marty coached the women’s squad for 12 seasons (1985-96). In 1982 and 1986 the 49er men finished second in the conference and Walker was honored three times as the Big West Coach of the Year (1982, 1986, 1994). Marty led the 49ers to a second place finish in 1992 and several third place league finishes during her tenure.
