David Jones

Jones made the most of a short career as a 49er. Arriving on campus after an all-state career at Long Beach City College and a short visit to Denver University, Jones played only three semesters for the 49ers. In his one full season, 1960-61, Jones, who led the 49ers in scoring with a 17.3 average, set records for single game (38) and season (358) rebounds that remain to this day. His single season (13.8) and career (12.2) rebound averages also remain school standards. In the 1960-61 season, Jones earned all-conference honors and led the 49ers into the NCAA's small college playoffs.
