Dave Demarest

A captain for the 1972 Forty-Niner baseball team, he was an academic All-American as well. A three-year starter in center field, Demarest never committed an error during his college career. He moved on to coach baseball at La Quinta High School, winning more than 300 games, spending nearly two decades in the CIF playoffs. The Long Beach Press-Telegram once called him "The Best Defensive Player to play baseball at Long Beach State." He hit .333 as a senior.
