Wilkerson was a four-year member of the LBSU women’s basketball team, playing for the 49ers from 1988-91. With 1,635 career points, Wilkerson ranks sixth on the all-time 49er scoring list. She led the 49ers in scoring as both a junior and senior, scoring 530 points and averaging 15.6 ppg in 1990 and 520 points with an average of 16.3 in 1991. During those same two years, Wilkerson led the Beach in steals with 69 and 83 respectively. She received conference post-season honors three times in her career beginning with an Honorable Mention and all-freshman team selection in 1988, followed by first team honors in 1990 and 1991. Wilkerson leads all 49ers with 551 career assists, and ranks third with 276 career steals. She scored 10 or more points in 84 of her 134 games. During her four seasons at Long Beach State, the 49ers amassed an overall record of 107-28 (.792), including a mark of 11-1 in Big West Conference Tournament play and 7-4 in NCAA Tournament action. The 49ers advanced to the 1988 NCAA Final Four.
