During his tenure at Long Beach State, Campbell did a little bit of everything, including radio play-by-play of 49er football games. But it was as the 49er tennis coach for 20 years (1964-83) where Campbell made his mark. During that span, Campbell-coached teams won five conference championships (four CCAA, one PCAA) and an NCAA Division II, title. He was chosen PCAA Coach of the Year four times.
